My Journey at Brown's Town Community College

In 2022, as the world began to recover from the challenges of COVID-19, I made a decision to refocus my life and pursue a path of growth and purpose. That decision led me to Brown’s Town Community College, one of the leading community colleges in Jamaica, where I began a journey that transformed my future.

Returning to the classroom after such an uncertain time was not easy, but the supportive environment at BTCC made all the difference. The dedicated lecturers, motivated classmates and sense of community helped me find the confidence to move forward. I enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science in Architectural and Construction Technology programme, a field that reflected my passion for design and my desire to contribute to Jamaica’s development through engineering and construction.

My time at Brown’s Town Community College was about more than academics. It was an experience of leadership, service and personal growth. I had the honour of serving as Student Union President and representing my peers on the Board of Management and Plant Development Committee. During this time, I also founded the Projects and Infrastructure Club, a student-led group focused on innovation, collaboration and development.

Balancing academics, leadership and personal commitments taught me the value of discipline and perseverance. Every challenge became an opportunity to grow and discover new strengths.

In 2024, I proudly graduated with my Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural and Construction Technology, an achievement that reflects not just my dedication but also the mentorship and encouragement I received from the BTCC family. Today, I am continuing my studies in Construction Management while working toward my long-term goal of becoming a professional engineer.

Now serving as Plant Manager at York Castle High School, I apply the leadership, technical and problem-solving skills developed at BTCC every day. The foundation built during my studies continues to guide my career and inspire my vision for the future.

Looking back, Brown’s Town Community College was more than an institution. It was a place of transformation where potential was nurtured, purpose was discovered and dreams were set in motion. I am proud to be part of the BTCC legacy and grateful for the opportunities it continues to create for students across Jamaica
