NVQ-J Certification in Allied Health (Practical Nursing)

The National Vocational Qualification of Jamaica (NVQ-J) in Allied Health at Brown’s Town Community College (BTCC) is designed to prepare students for entry-level and advanced roles in the healthcare sector. This competency-based training equips learners with the practical skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to deliver quality care in a variety of health-related settings. The programme is ideal for individuals passionate about helping others and seeking a career in healthcare, or those already in the field who wish to upgrade their qualifications.

NVQ-J Allied Health — Level 2 & Level 3

The National Vocational Qualification of Jamaica (NVQ-J) at Brown’s Town Community College (BTCC) prepares students for entry-level and advanced roles in the healthcare sector.

  • Level 2 Duration: Approximately 9 months
  • Level 3 Duration: Approximately 6 months
  • Mode of Delivery: Part-time

Programme Structure

Competency-based training with supervised practice and portfolio assessments covering patient care, infection control, basic clinical assistance, and professional conduct for healthcare environments.

Entry Requirements

For Level 2:

  • Minimum of one (1) CSEC subject, or
  • Entrance test, or
  • Relevant work experience in a health-related field

For Level 3:

  • Successful completion of Level 2, or
  • Equivalent qualification or relevant industry experience
