NVQ-J Commis Chef

The NVQ-J Commis Chef programme is designed to equip learners with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills required for entry-level positions in the culinary industry. This competency-based programme focuses on food preparation, kitchen operations, hygiene, and culinary techniques aligned with industry standards.

NVQ-J Level 2 in Commercial Food Preparation — Commis Chef

  • Duration: Typically 9 months – 1 year
  • Mode of Delivery: Full-time

Practical, kitchen-first training aligned to industry standards for entry-level culinary roles.

Programme Structure

Competency-based modules with intensive kitchen labs covering preparation, cooking methods, sanitation, and brigade teamwork. Continuous assessment via practical demonstrations and product standards.

Entry Requirements

  • Open to eligible Sixth Form Pathway applicants
  • One (1) CXC or one (1) City & Guilds subject

OR

  • Level 1 certificate from HEART/NCTVET
