The Bachelor of Science in Social Work is a four-year programme offered exclusively at Brown’s Town Community College (BTCC). It equips students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation to work in social services, advocacy, and community development.

  • Years 1 & 2 — Associate Degree Level
  • Years 3 & 4 — Bachelor’s Degree Level

Study Options:

  • Full-time: Delivered face-to-face on campus
  • Part-time: Delivered online, ideal for working professionals

Programme Structure

The programme develops practice-ready social workers grounded in ethics, research, policy, and community engagement across Jamaica’s social services landscape.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Five (5) CSEC/GCE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics

Applicants without Mathematics are required to complete Foundation Concepts in Mathematics I, II, and III within the first year.

OR hold an Associate Degree in Social Work (or related Social Sciences field) for advanced standing into Year 3.

Certification

Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Science in Social Work conferred by the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica (CCCJ).

Students exiting after two years will receive: Associate Degree in Social Work (CCCJ).
