Associate of Science in Environmental Studies (CCCJ)

The Associate of Science in Environmental Studies is a two-year full-time programme offered at Brown’s Town Community College (BTCC) in collaboration with the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica (CCCJ). The programme is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of environmental science, sustainability, and natural resource management, preparing them for careers in environmental monitoring, conservation, and advocacy or for advanced study.

Programme Structure

Builds core competencies in environmental science with emphasis on fieldwork, data analysis, and policy awareness for Jamaica’s sustainability needs.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Five (5) CSEC/GCE subjects, including:
  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • One science subject (e.g., Biology, Geography, or Integrated Science)

Applicants without Mathematics must complete Foundation Concepts in Mathematics I, II, and III in Year 1.

Mature applicants with relevant work experience may apply under CCCJ’s mature entry policy.

Certification

Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the Associate of Science in Environmental Studies conferred by the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica (CCCJ).
